XXI. CONSECRATED RELIGIOUS DAY IN BIH
On Saturday, September 1st, at the monastery of St. Bonaventura in Visoko, XXI. Consecrated religious day in Bosnia and Herzegovina was held and it gathered about 250 participants.
After the gathering, the program began with the Invocation of the Holy Spirit, and then welcoming by OFM Miljenko Šteko, President of the Conference of Superior Religious Leaders of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Provincial of the Franciscan Province of Hercegovina; Msgr. Marko Semren, Auxiliary Bishop of Banjaluka and OFM Franjo Radman, Guardian of the Visoko Monastery.
The consecrated religious day gathered: the Jesuits, the Adorers of the Blood of Christ, the Franciscan school Sisters of Sarajevo and Mostar, the Mary’s Missionaries, the Servants of Little Jesus from Sarajevo and Split, Sisters of mercy of St. Vincent de Paul, the Salezians, the Daughters of God’s Love, the Franciscans from Sarajevo and Mostar, the Missionaries of Love and Carmelites, the meeting was moderated by the Provincial Chief of the Sisters of the Mercy of Sarajevo Province sister M. Julijana Djakovic, and the meeting was attended by sister Ana Marija Antolović, President of the Croatian consecrated religious Conference .
In the first part of the meeting, the lecture entitled “Spiritual vocations in the modern world – challenges and perspectives” was held by mr. Sc. Rev. Damir Stojić, a member of the Croatian Salezian Province of St. John Bosco. After the lecture there was a discussion and a break, and then there was an opportunity for the sacrament of reconciliation.
The Eucharistic Celebration in the Monastery Church was led by Bishop Semren in concelebration with about 25 priests.
In his appropriate sermon, while speaking of vocations, he pointed out the importance of cultivating relations with the Lord through prayer, communion with Jesus, and contemplation.
The mass celebration, with their harmonious singing, was animated by the seminarians of the Franciscan Province of Bosna Srebrena, under the guidance and playing of OFM Emanuel Josić.
After a meal that followed the Mass, a visit was made to the Franciscan monastery, high school and the archaeological area of Mila – the site of the first monastery of St. Nicholas, which at the time of medieval Bosnia was the crown and funeral place of Bosnian kings and the seat of the Franciscan vicariate.
Then a special cultural and recreational program was organized, that was in the first part led by two seminarians with two short films, and the historical part was led by OFM Ivan Nujić, while OFM Mirko Majdandžić animated the rest of the program.
This XXI. Consecrated religious day, with a special address, was closed by the Vice-President of the Conference of the High Religious Chiefs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, mr. s. Kata Karadža.
