LITURGICAL CEREMONY ON THE OCCASION OF THE RESTORATION OF THE PARISH CHURCH
On Sunday, August 9th, in the parish of St. Leopold Bogdan Mandić in Ljubija near Prijedor, the newly renovated parish church was blessed.
The solemn Eucharist was celebrated on that occasion and led by the Bishop of Banja Luka, Msgr. Franjo Komarica in concelebration with the parish priest mr. rev. Zlatko Matić, parish priest in Sasina venerable Adolf Višaticki and the local son rev. Predrag Ivandić. About 150 believers participated.
At the beginning, the bishop prayed blessing prayers for the newly restored church and sprinkled holy water and burned incense on the inner and outer walls while the Litany of All Saints was prayed.
In his homily, Msgr. Komarica spoke about the historical facts of the existence of the church and the celebration of the sacraments in the area of the parish of Ljubija, and about the deep Christian roots that believers should be aware of. He referred to the unfortunate events of the war and post-war period that took place in the Prijedor area and to the suffering to which Christianity was exposed.
He expressed gratitude and joy that in Ljubija, despite many existential difficulties, beautiful events are taking place, through which togetherness and love are spreading.
At the end of the Holy Mass, rev. Matić thanked everyone for the reconstruction of the church, emphasizing that both Orthodox and Muslims were committed to its construction.
After the Holy Mass, a snack was prepared for all present.
