BLESSING OF THE CEMETERY AND WORKS ON THE NEW CHAPEL

The Bishop of Banja Luka, Msgr. Franjo Komarica on October 8th in the parish of St. Elijah the Prophet in Glamoč, in Homar – North, blessed the new central cemetery and the work on the chapel. The concelebration was attended by parish priest rev. Boris Ljevak, and many believers participated.

In his homily, the bishop made a historical cross-section of the parish and the wider surroundings and pointed out that Christians in those areas have always lived through challenging times and that they were and remain faithful to the Church. He praised the religious community for continuing that tradition.

At the end of the Holy Mass, rev. Boris thanked the faithful for their help and informed that the conceptual project for the construction of the chapel and the arrangement of the cemetery was made by engineer Mario Deljak, while the contractor was Pero Popović. He also thanked the Lučić and Markov families and the workers Stipe Tubić and Ilija Bilandžija. After the Holy Mass, there was a gathering and socialising.

By the way, the parish of St. Elijah the Prophet is mentioned as early as 14th century. The church was built in 1903, but it was burned down in the Second World War and was rebuilt in 1969. However, in the last war it was mined and the population expelled. The new church was built in 2001, and today it is a spiritual refuge for 750 believers, which makes it the largest parish in the Banja Luka diocese managed by diocesan priests.
