35TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE EPISCOPAL ORDINATION OF MSGR. KOMARICA
On the feast of the Epiphany, January 6th, Holy Mass in the Banja Luka’s cathedral of St. Bonaventura was led by Bishop Franjo Komarica, who also celebrated the 35th anniversary of his Episcopal ordination.
Auxiliary bishop Msgr. Marko Semren and the rector of the cathedral venerable Pero Ivan Grgić, concelebrated.
In his homily, Bishop Franjo interpreted the content of the Feast of the Epiphany and emphasized that the wise men of the East “are in fact a model of all those who seek God.” In the context of the anniversary he celebrated, he recalled the events in the Basilica of St. Peter in the Vatican 35 years ago and explained that “to serve God means to consistently carry out his holy will.” He also mentioned the years of his Episcopal ministry “full of dramatic events, challenges and hopeless situations.”
Due to epidemiological regulations, only 35 believers gathered at the Holy Mass, one for each of the 35 years of the bishop’s ministry.
After the Eucharist, a modest gathering was held.
Interestingly, Bishop Komarica in the last few decades is the oldest in terms of Episcopal “service” of all bishops in the Church of the Croats.
