ANNIVERSARY OF THE ASSASSINATION OF MSGR. KAZIMIR VIŠATICKI
In the parish church of St. Rocco in Bosanska Gradiška on November 17th marked the 16th anniversary of the violent death of the parish priest Msgr. Kazimir Višaticki.
The Eucharist was led by the Bishop of Banja Luka, Msgr. Franjo Komarica. In addition to the parish priest, rev. Tomislav Topić, brothers of Msgr. Kazimir; administrator of the parish of Sasina venerable Adolf Višaticki and spiritual guide in the Theological Seminary in Đakovo prof. Dr. Karlo Višaticki, also concelebrated as well as several other priests from BiH and Croatia.
At the beginning of the Holy Mass, the bishop reminded that two parish priests of deanery of Bosanska Gradiška were killed: rev. Ratko Grgić, parish priest in Nova Topola in June 1992., as the first in a series of eight killed, and Msgr. Kazimir as the last in the post war period in November 2004.
In his homily, Msgr. Komarica pointed to the ancient practice of the Church in worshiping saints and praying for the souls of the deceased, ie souls in purgatory, which is done especially during the month of November, at the end of the church year.
After the Holy Mass, the bishop and the priests and present believers, in front of the memorial plaque at the entrance to the parish house, prayed for the deceased parish priest.
The Eucharist was attended by about 50 believers from the parish but also the neighbouring parishes of Nova Topola and Dolina, where the late priest Kazimir also worked as a pastor.
