CELEBRATED DAY OF CONSECRATED LIFE
The Feast of the Candlemas and the Day of Consecrated Life were solemnly celebrated on February 2nd in the Diocese of Banja Luka. First, in the presence of Bishop Franjo Komarica, Auxiliary Bishop Marko Semren, OFM, and other monks and nuns, a gathering was organized in the premises of the Ordinariate.
This was followed by a lecture given by Msgr. Semren, and was based on the conclusions of the Plenary Session of Senior Religious Leaders held in Rome in 2010. and the Prayer of the Hours, after which there was an opportunity for holy confession.
In the evening, a blessing of candles was held, and then, after the procession, in the Cathedral of St. Bonaventura, Holy Mass was celebrated and led by Bishop Semren.
In his homily, the bishop pointed out that the Church in BiH is in the Year of God’s Word, and it “gives us life, freedom and joy”. He further emphasized that religious life is a gift of the Spirit in the Church and interpreted the role of the elder Simon and the prophetess Anna in the presentation of the Lord in the Temple.
Along with the consecrated person, about 30 lay people were present at the Holy Mass.
