CELEBRATION OF THE PATRON SAINT AND BLESSING OF THE PASTORAL CENTRE
The believers of the Majdan branch, which belongs to the parish of Mrkonjić Grad, celebrated the feast of their heavenly patron on November 14th, and the premises of the newly built pastoral centre, located right next to the church, were blessed.
Holy Mass was led by the bishop of Banja Luka, Msgr. Franjo Komarica with the concelebration of the parish priest, rev. Darko Anušić and parish priests from Jajce, Podmilačje, Glamoč and Ljubija.
In the appropriate sermon, the bishop interpreted the biblical readings and presented basic information about the life and activities of St. Nikola Tavelić in Bosnia and in the Holy Land, where together with three of his religious brothers, he suffered a martyr’s death for love of Christ. He also recalled the dramatic events from the last war in their hometowns and the forced emigration of Majdan Catholics in early 1996.
Towards the end of the Holy Mass, Msgr. Komarica thanked the benefactors who helped with the construction, and he handed out certificates of appreciation to the most deserving.
The liturgy was animated by members of the Jajce Parish Choir led by Franciscan nuns. After they sang the song Tebe Boga hvalimo, those present gathered for fellowship and refreshments in front of and in the premises of the new centre.
By the way, the church in Majdan, located ten kilometres from Mrkonjić Grad, was built in 1914. It was rebuilt in 1973, heavily damaged in the last war, and rebuilt after the war.
