CENTRAL MASS CELEBRATION FOR THE WEEK OF SOLIDARITY
In the newly-built parish church of the Name of Mary in Gromiljak on the Third Sunday of Lent, on March 24th, the central mass celebration of the Croatian Caritas during the Lent “Week of Solidarity and Communion with the Church and People in Bosnia and Herzegovina” was celebrated.
The Eucharistic Celebration was led by the President of the Caritas of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Archbishop of Vrhbosna, cardinal Vinko Puljić, and the commemorative sermon was sent by the President of the Croatian Caritas, the Bishop of Varaždin, Msgr. Josip Mrzljak.
In concelebration were the Director of the Caritas of BiH Msgr. Tomo Knežević; Director of Croatian Caritas Msgr. Fabijan Svalina; Director of the Caritas of Vrhbosna Archdiocese rev. Mirko Šimić; Director of Caritas of Diocese of Mostar-Duvno and Trebinje-Mrkan rev. Ante Komadina; Director of Caritas of Banja Luka diocese Msgr. Miljenko Aničić; dean of the Kreševo deanery OFM Stipan Radić and the parish priest in Gromiljak, rev. Ilija Karlović.
Bishop Mrzljak highlighted in the sermon that the Third Lent Sunday is being increasingly recognized as a day of communion in the Croatian Catholic people. “We live in Croatia and BiH, but we are dispersed all over the world and we would like this Third Lent Sunday to be a link that will unite us in a prayer spiritual communion”, Msgr. Mrzljak.
At the end of the Mass, Archbishop Vinko, on behalf of the Church and Caritas in BiH, thanked the Church in Croatia, led by the President of Croatian Caritas, bishop Mrzljak, who, as he pointed out, “in his mandate has truly shown a shepherd’s love and closeness to us in BiH”.
Mass in Gromiljak is the crown of the Solidarity Week that the Church of Croatia has been organizing and conducting through Caritas of Croatia for the thirteenth year in a row, with the cooperation with Caritas of BiH.
