LAUNDRY FOR MIGRANTS
On Tuesday, January 28th, a laundry room for migrants was opened in Tuzla, which currently has the capacity to wash and dry laundry for about 50 people a day.
The Caritas of the Archdiocese of Vrhbosna and Caritas of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with the Caritas of the Diocese of Banja Luka, opened a second laundry room for migrants in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is located on Merhamet’s premises and currently has a capacity for washing and drying laundry for about 50 people a day. Laundry is also a laundry service for the home of the Association Puž, which houses about 20 of the most vulnerable migrants.
Caritas has hired two people to work in the newly opened laundry. Not only does the project assist migrants in preventing skin diseases and improving personal hygiene, it also provides two jobs for women who are currently unable to find work.
Through this project, the capacity of the laundry facility at Camp Bira in Bihać will be further strengthened through the procurement of additional washing and drying machines, coordinated by the Caritas of the Diocese of Banja Luka.
The Caritas of the Archdiocese of Vrhbosna, Merhamet, the Association Puž and the Caritas of Bosnia and Herzegovina do a lot to ensure better living conditions for migrants in Tuzla. The joint project, brought together by several partners, with the financial support of the Catholic Relief Service (CRS), aims to reduce the suffering of migrants passing through or staying in the Canton of Tuzla.
