On Saturday, June 8th, the cathedral of St. Bonaventura in Banja Luka hosted ministrant’s gathering of the diocese of Banja Luka.
The meeting began with the worship and sacrament of Holy Confession, and then followed a Holy Mass celebration led by Msgr. Franjo Komarica, Bishop of Banjaluka.
The present were welcomed, expressing joy for this year’s meeting, by the Commissioner for the Ministrants of the Banja Luka Diocese, rev. Predrag Ivandić, who pointed out that around 200 ministrants gathered at this year’s gathering from 16 parishes: Banja Luka, Bosanska Dubica, Bosanska Gradiska, Bosansko Grahovo, Budžak, Drvar, Glamoč, Jajce, Lištani, Livno, Ljubunčić, Ljubija, Presnače, Prijedor , Ravska and Stara Rijeka.
At the beginning of the Mass celebration, the ministrants renewed their ministrant promises, and the bishop blessed their ministrant suits.
After spiritual and physical refreshment, the ministrants went to the Catholic School centre (KŠC) Bl. Ivan Merz in which various competitions were held. The first place in chess competition was won by Luka Perić from the Lištani parish, the second place was won by Miran Stipić from the Livno parish, and third place was won by Antonio Matković from the parish of Ljubunčić.
In a social game “Do not get angry man!”, least angry and winners of the first place were ministrants of parish Ljubunčić, the second place was won by the ministrants of the parish Budžak and the third place was won by parish of Drvar.
In the table tennis competition, the first three places were won by the ministrants from the Lištane parish, gold was won by Mato Ćurak, silver Filip Perić, and bronze Mijo Brdar. In the small football tournament for boys, the first place was won by a team from the Lištani parish, the second place was the team of parish Ljubunčić, and the third place was the parish of Glamoč.
Small football tournament was also played by girls, with first place winning team of the Lištani parish, the second place was won by team of parish Ljubunčić, and third place was won by ministrants from the parish of Glamoč.
The religious studies quiz was held in two groups: younger and older. The most successful in the group of the older ministrants, from the fifth to the ninth grade, were the ministrants from the Presnače parish, who won the first place, second place was the team from the Lištani parish, and the third place was won by ministrants from the parish Ljubunčić. In the younger group, from the first to the fourth grade, ministrants from the parish of Lištane won gold, silver was won by ministrants from the parish of Livno, and the bronze belonged to the ministrants of the parish of Glamoč.
At the end of the competition in the KŠC, the ministrants returned to the courtyard of the cathedral and participated in “knight games”: running in bags and rope pulling.
Fastest runners were: Jelena Granić, Lištani parish (1st place), Nikola Sučić, Ljubunčić parish (2nd place) and David Kelava, parish Livno (3rd place). The strongest in the rope pulling were the ministrants from the Lištani parish, who won the first place, second place belonged to the ministrants from the parish of Glamoč, and the third place to the ministrants from the Parish of Ljubija.
The gathering ended by awarding diplomas and winning medals to the most successful, and the acknowledgments to all who participated in this year’s event. The cup was awarded to the most successful parish, ie the parish that won the most medals, and this year the cup was awarded to the ministrants of the parish of Lištani.
This year’s meeting was concluded with a brief prayer.
Thankful to God, full of impressions and joy, the ministrants went back to their parishes with the promise to come next year.
