PRAYER “MARATHON” TO COMBAT THE PANDEMIC

On May 1st, a unique prayer “marathon” began in the parishes of the Banja Luka diocese to combat the coronavirus pandemic, as well as for those who died from this disease.

The prayer was joined by the Bishop of Banja Luka, Msgr. Franjo Komarica in the parish of Marija Zvijezda. Together with the parish priest father Zvonko Topić and about 15 believers, he led the rosary and prayers for the victims of the pandemic, as well as the litany in honour of St. Joseph with the latest invocations ordained by Pope Francis.

Msgr. Komarica then led the Holy Mass celebration.

In the sermon, he first spoke about the content of the Year of St. Joseph which the Holy Father proclaimed for the whole Church. He then presented the unique role of God’s chosen one, the Blessed Virgin Mary, in His work of salvation and her role of spiritual motherhood for the whole Church of Christ, but also for all mankind and for all the nations of the world.

Bishop Francis sent a special encouragement and invitation to daily prayer for the intention that Our Lady “embraces all her reluctant children and pray to the Lord that He extend His almighty hand and deliver all of us from this terrible pandemic, so that life may regain the serenity of the regular course.”

Thus, through prayer and the Eucharist, the faithful of the Banja Luka diocese united with many other believers around the globe, who, at the invitation of the Bishop of Rome, began a worldwide prayer campaign during Our Lady’s month May, in which they will pray for every person affected by the pandemic and for normalising everyday life.
