The traditional Pentecost vigil in the parish church of the former abbey Marija Zvijezda in Banja Luka was held on June 4th.
This year, too, a large number of members of prayer communities gathered for the Charismatic Renewal in the Holy Spirit from BiH.
The participants were greeted by the parish priest at Petrićevac, OFM Domagoj Šimić, the coordinator of the Charismatic Renewal in the Holy Spirit for BiH, Mirko Puđa, and the Bishop of Banja Luka, Msgr. Franjo Komarica. This was followed by the singing of hymns. The Bishop then gave a lecture and presented the Church’s teaching on the Church of Christ, with special emphasis on the role of lay believers in it and in the world.
Presentations on the Synodal Way of the Banja Luka Diocese followed. The appropriate meditation was led by the parish priest in Ružići and the spiritual assistant of the charismatic renewal, OFM Tomislav Jelić. A lecture on the work of the Holy Spirit in the Church of today was given by the parish priest from Šurkovac, OFM Ivo Pavić.
The meeting concluded with a Holy Mass led by Msgr. Komarica. In his homily, he reaffirmed the tangibility of God’s mercy, love and care in the life of every believer in Christ, which must be open to the encouragements of the Spirit.
This was followed by adoration before the Blessed Sacrament and joint singing.
