THE BISHOPS’ CONFERENCE OF BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA ORGANIZED ITS 75TH REGULAR SESSION

The Bishop’s Conference of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BK BiH) started its 75th regular session on March 20th in the offices of the Bishop’s Ordinary in Mostar.

Welcoming words to all participants were said by the host, Msgr. Ratko Perić, bishop of Mostar-Duvno and apostolic administrator of Trebinje-Mrkan. He welcomed the Apostolic Nuncio in BiH Msgr. Luigi Pezzuto, who met the bishops at the beginning of the session; delegate Msgr. Giuseppe Merisa, a retired bishop of the Diocese of Lodi, near Milan, and a delegate of the Croatian Bishops’ Conference (HBK) Msgr. Petar Palić, the bishop of Hvar.

Then, greetings to all those present was sent by cardinal Puljić. He noted that since the last session they had in Sarajevo in early November of 2018., the climate caused by the unjust electoral law has not yet calmed down, and the Croats in BiH feel deceived and played in their own rights.

“The consequence of this is a difficult establishment of a regular authority in BiH, which further burdens the public opinion that has contributed to the ‘burned’  love of this homeland Bosnia and Herzegovina”, said cardinal Puljić.

During the session, the bishops listened to the reports of the head of the Council, the Commission, the Secretariat, the Catholic Press Bureau of BK BiH (KTA), and the Mission Headquarters and Pontifical Missionary Work of BiH. They also talked about family pastorals and current social problems and challenges.

The session ended on March 21st with a press conference.
