On March 25th, in Sarajevo, the patron saint of the Vrhbosna theology seminary (VBS), the Annunciation of the Lord, was celebrated with the ceremonial academy and a Holy Mass.
The ceremonial academy in the hall of Paul VI at the VBS, was opened by the choir Stjepan Hadrović headed by rev. Marko Stanušić, and then the welcoming words were said by general leader (ductor)of the theologians Josip Dedić and the rector of VBS venerable Josip Knežević.
They reminded of the significance of the Annunciation of the Lord day, and especially of the Year of Missions in BiH, and the 100th anniversary of Encyclica Maximum Illud by pope Benedict XV. emphasizing the necessity of accomplishing the missionary mission of every baptized person. Then the documentary film Fra Vjeko Ćurić was played, made by the editor of religious program on the Federal TV Marina Knežević.
Duktor Dedić presented the theology community and its activities, especially the missionary ones.
Then the Archbishop of Vrhbosna cardinal Vinko Puljić congratulated the patron of the VBS by inviting the attendants to look at Mary as an example of faith, as well as the significance of the work of Archbishop Josip Stadler, who founded the Sarajevo theology university.
There was a procession to the seminary church of St. Cyril and Methodius where the Holy Mass was led by the Cardinal with the concelebration of 20 priests.
In the Sermon, the Cardinal, for the Annunciation of the Lord, talked about Mary’s co-operation with God.
After the homily there was a ceremony of admittance of the candidates for the diaconate and the presbyterate for the Vrhbosna Archdiocese, to which the following theologians came: Ilija Jurić from the parish of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Prozor; Josip Marković from the parish of St. John the Baptist in Lug-Brankovići and Josip Papak from the Parish of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Prozor.
At the end of the holy Mass, which was animated by the choir of theologians, venerable Knežević invited all present to a joint lunch.
